Carnival

Hummel 328 with Hummelscape

Back           Next

This is the Carnival, Hummel 328. It was first introduced in the U.S. market in 1963. Originally modeled by master sculptors Reinhold Unger and Helmut Wehlte in 1955. Early sample models with "Full Bee" that's TM2 trademark and has a 1955 incised copyright date. So for you Hummel collectors out there keep a watchful eye out there because that piece can go for as high as $5000 +.

And so later models have a 1957 incised copyright date. Older exampless are slightly larger with only minor variations. The object under the child's arm is a noise maker or "slapstick", a device generally made of wood and paper or cloth-popular with stage comedians.

We got lucky and acquired this 2000 retirement exclusive that was broadcast on QVC along with this wonderful hummelscape. This is one of the Hummelscape Collection called "Candlelight Carnival" limited edition and it has a votive cup candle holder. It looks great in the dark and as you can see the colors are really great... you should see it in the dark.
